Cuve Béton Pinot Noir
Wine
Garagiste Cuve Béton Pinot Noir is sourced from a specific patch of vines on the winery's Merricks Grove vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula.
More exposed to the wind than other areas of the site, these vines produce grapes with brighter characters. After harvest, the fruit is destemmed.
Cuve béton means 'concrete tank' in French. The wine is wild yeast fermented and matured in a 5,000 litre concrete vessel made by Italian company Nico Velo, who specialize in concrete wine tanks.
The wine spends three weeks on skins. It’s aged for several months on lees in its concrete tank. Then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Ruby red, Garagiste Cuve Béton Pinot Noir has crunchy red fruit flavours and distinctive chalky tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
